Centralised World Economy - Has it Worked?

Tuesday, December 30th, 2008

The Bretton Woods (New Hampshire) conference in July 1944 placed the United life insurance quote of America at the center of the world economy. It did so by adopting the White Plan for the world economy over a plan put forward by British economist Maynard Keynes.

Keynes wanted a world reserve currency called “bancor” administered by a central bank. The central bank would create money for world trade that would have an exchange rate fixed to local currencies. Keynes system had built into it systems to balance that included the increase and decrease of imports and exports between nations so that the country with a deficit exported more, and the country with a surplus imported more.

The White Plan was put forward by Harry Dexter White, then chief international economists for the US Treasury.

The main thrust of the White Plan was the International Monetary Fund. This was to be a fund without any ability to create money, but instead it was to be a depositary of funds contributed by member nations. Twenty five percent of the funds deposited where to be in gold, or a currency convertible into gold, and seventy five percent in the currency of the contributing country.

Effectively the twenty five percent was to be paid in US dollars because the US dollar was the only currency still tied to the gold standard.

If a country ran into financial difficulties it could ‘borrow’ twenty-five percent of its IMF deposit immediately, and if this was insufficient it could request loans in a foreign currency. This meant that a country had to borrow its own money and part of that borrowing had to be in US dollars. And so the US dollar became the world currency.

When the White Plan was adopted it handed control of the world economy to the US banking institutions.

Has the White Plan worked?

The unforeseen effect of tying the world economies to the US dollar is that the internal working of the US economy affects the whole world. The .com crash was largely a US problem, as is the current sub-prime meltdown, caused by US internal mismanagement.

Because most of the world is tied to the US dollar the world cannot avoid the fallout of the US going into recession. Overseas banks have to have a US exposure to maintain US dollar assets if they are to maintain overseas trade. The IMF guarantees world recession if the US goes into recession.

Where to From Here?

There have been rumblings from world leaders about the need for world economic reform. Read that as ‘Scrap the White Plan.’

There is a major push for countries to cut free from the US and regain control of their own economies. In reply George Bush has said basically ‘Trust me, I’m the President.’

It is still largely underground in that media sources are quoting the discontent but are not giving the public information on what the real issues are. Maybe the media in general does not yet appreciate the issues surrounding the White Plan.

Where do we go from here? I have no idea. But watch this space. This issue is going to be big.

Sunday, December 28th, 2008

Visit forums and bogs in your niche to see if people are interested in your topic. Participate in the conversations. Some forums even allow you to run a poll or survey their readers.

Create a Google AdWords campaign by writing a few ads. You will soon be able to see if there’s an interest in the topic you have chosen.

Penny Stocks Profits - The Why, Where and How of Successfully Trading Penny Stocks

Saturday, December 27th, 2008

Why do people trade penny stocks? They are highly volatile. They’re difficult to research since the history of the company may be scant. They are highly speculative. They move with the speed of light. There are dangers of stock manipulation and gruesome incidences of shameless hype and untruth. And furthermore, they aren’t even required to submit to SEC regulations.

And yet, with all those negatives, in 2006, the average daily dollar volume of shares traded on the OTCBB was $202 million. That figure is up from $186 million in the previous year. Average daily share volume rose to 2.6 billion in 2006, which is up from 1.7 billion in 2005. (Did you notice that is billion with a B? Did you notice that was daily?)

Why? Why this phenomenal growth?

1. Of course the first reason is the price. Cheap cheap cheap. Such an easy way for the small, unskilled investor to get his or her feet wet in stock market investing. With penny stocks, the basics can be learned with very little risk.

2. Technology - the Internet - has made an incredible impact on day trading penny stocks. There so much information out there, ways to research both what to trade and how to trade.

3. Some people truly do have valid inside information regarding a company where they might be employed (or where a relative is employed), and they are privy to the possibility of that company really taking off.

4. The atmosphere of volatility and unpredictability, rather than speaking danger, speaks fun and excitement to some. They like it because of the high risks and the wild rides.

5. The majority of people flat out want to make a boatload of money and they see profiting with penny stocks as a way to do that

If you’re still wondering if this arena of investing is for you, consider these criteria:

1. Know and understand your own risk tolerance.

2. Ascertain your financial and investment position.

3. Gage the aggressiveness of your trading goals.

4. Line out your reasonable expectations of returns.

5. Take into consideration your level of trading experience.

Where To Locate Penny Stocks

If you have low risk tolerance, begin with Nasdaq SmallCap Market. This market is for securities of smaller, less-capitalized companies (small caps) that do not qualify for inclusion in the Nasdaq National Market, and yet these companies must follow strict compliance to maintain their listing. The investor will have access to the company’s financial results and ongoing reports. Few of these stocks will be less than a dollar a share.

The OTCBB (Over The Counter Bulletin Board) car donation charity some regulation and accountability. An OTCBB equity security is any equity that is not listed or traded on the Nasdaq or a national securities exchange. The OTCBB provides access to more than 3,600 securities. It includes more than 330 Market Makers. The system electronically transmits real-time quote, price and volume information.

AMEX (The American Stock Exchange) also trades penny stocks. The shares here may have less volume, but there are reporting requirements, along with many news and quote services.

Pink Sheets. You see both warnings against, and enthusiasts for, stocks presented through Pink Sheets, LLC. They trade with no reporting requirements or regulations, and trading activities tend to be low and sporadic. Beginners probably should not start here.

How to Start - Try Paper Trading Penny Stocks

One way many investors get started is to paper trade. Essentially, it is pretend trading (or simulated trading, if you will) to give you the feel of the real thing. Pre-technology traders painstakingly drew chart after chart to accomplish paper trading. They were a dedicated lot. But with the internet, it’s a breeze. There are many sites that provide this service for free. You can trade with all your Monopoly money and see if you can really do it.

Paper trading allows you to chose and monitor stocks, and decide on your entrance and exit points with absolutely no risk involved. It’s a great way to test an existing investment strategy or information source. You can get the feel for the best quotes, charts, news sources and tracking.

The best advice for paper trading is remain realistic. Try to paper trade the same way you would if you were really beginning to invest. Use the same size of investment capital. Use the same entrance and exit strategies. Use the same goals.

You will need to keep extensive notes throughout the paper trading activities. You’ll want to look back and see what worked best for you.

For all its merits, there are still a few drawbacks in paper trading. When trading for real, you’ll know the exact price you paid for the shares because you’ll have a price receipt. With paper trading you don’t have that information. You can only take a number like the day’s average price, or the opening price. Also pay attention to limit orders. You can’t actually trigger a limit order with paper trading. So you’ll have to watch to see if it hit your target price.

The biggest difference between paper trading penny stocks and real live trading is your emotions. Believe me, you can be cool as the proverbial cucumber while paper trading and fall to pieces when your hard-earned cash is on the line. While you are paper trading, none of the greed, panic, anger, or impatience will bother you. But it can hit you right between the eyes when real money is on the table. That’s why you must know your own risk tolerance.

If you begin in safe territory and graduate to bigger things, you’ll maintain your capital and your sanity.

Please look for my companion articles to learn even more important facts about investing in and profiting from penny stocks.

I’ve been dabbling in penny stocks for a few years, educating myself in bits and pieces. The other day I got a call from one of my old frat brothers saying he too was researching penny stocks online. In his search, he ran across a crazy story about two geeks who have created a computer robot that does all the analysis work. They locked themselves in a room with 12 computers all running at once to test the system. (Shades of college-age Bill Gates.) The results are staggering. Winning picks right and left. See what you think. These two guys are so sold on their product they are giving people $100 trading cash! (Oh yeah, they named the robot, Marl!) www.dblpennystox.comhttp://www.dblpennystox.com

How Forex Trading Is Very Much Like Stock Trading

Friday, December 26th, 2008

The Internet has made it possible for anyone who mortgages for people with bad credit interested, owns a computer and Internet connection, to take up Forex trading successfully, especially if they are willing to invest the necessary time for proper Forex training. Because of this, Forex trading has turned into some craze of sorts with many ill equipped people jumping at it and making nauseating losses.

Traders from all over the world are watching the international money market, especially the dollar movement or trend on their computers, just as is the case with the stock market in which a day trader monitors stock movements on the Dow Jones.

Both the stock market and the foreign exchange markets are based on buying on account of weakness while selling on account strength. So a trader will readily purchase a week dollar and hold onto it, to be sold when the dollar regains its buying power. This is what obtains at the stock exchanges all over the world, brokers buying weak stocks for sell when such stocks appreciate in price. In a nutshell whether it is stock or foreign currencies, the dictum is “buy low, sell high” by pairing two currencies; say the British pound and the American dollar.

However, Forex trading is not an easy road to wealth. In fact, many people have met their ruin in this business, but that is because they did not learn well enough to do things right. In whatever business, knowledge of the rudiments is what will save you from making losses. If you know about stock trading, that same way you should look at Forex trading.

Hockey Wrist Guards Help Prevent Injury

Monday, December 22nd, 2008

Hockey is an aggressive game that puts you at risk of serious injuries, such as sprains and dislocations. The wrist is especially vulnerable because it is heavily low mortgage rate refinancing throughout the game — in maneuvering the stick, hitting the puck, and controlling angles and directions. Even minor injuries such as sprains can take weeks to recover fully. Fortunately, such injuries can easily be prevented by using hockey wrist guards.

What are hockey wrist guards?

Hockey wrist guards are used to control wrist movement, absorb sweat, and aid in the handling and movement of the hockey stick. They also serve as a shock absorber when the player falls and lands on his wrist. Hockey wrist guards can be designed to cover only the wrist or include part of the hand. The latter provides added safety for the hand, which is also prone to minor injuries like cuts, scratches, and bruises.

What materials are the best wrist guards made of?

Your hockey wrist guard should provide both protection and comfort. When choosing a wrist guard, make sure it is made from light, breathable material. The inner fabric should wick away moisture and prevent sweat from building up on your hand. This will keep your hands dry and comfortable throughout the game, allowing you to better control the stick and concentrate on the game. Make sure it is thick enough to absorb impact, but not too thick that it feels heavy and reduces your feel of the stick. Some hockey wrist guards have gel fillings for providing added comfort and protection.

Go International in Case of Recession

Sunday, December 21st, 2008

Prior to the advent and mass popularity of the Internet, engaging in international commerce was a huge and difficult proposition that required you to be able to vastly undercut their domestic suppliers, provide your own means of communication and transport of your product, and most importantly, develop the right network of contacts to open doors to an industry community that will allow you to justify the investment of exporting your goods and services overseas.

And, of course, because the American economy placed such a refinance home equity mortgage value on the U.S. dollar you had to convince these companies that they were justified in paying a higher price for your services than they would if they simple worked within their own borders-or at least their own continent.

There have been several events that have changed this, and which have made opening your doors to an international community not just a desirable move but a necessary one. First and foremost, the Internet has connected companies all around the globe into a single network of industry providers. Once upon a time it was inconceivable that a company in the United States would be able to write a computer program for a company in Beijing and have it in their hands by suppertime. The Internet has made that possible, and made operating in an international community more lucrative and cost efficient than ever before.

Unfortunately, the recessed economy in the U.S. has caused the relative value of the dollar to drop dramatically. Believe it or not, when you’re considering opening your doors to the international community this is actually going to work in your favor!

A large part of the reason for the huge quantity of layoffs in the United States since the beginning of the recession is that U.S. companies have discovered a cheap labor base in companies overseas with a weaker economy. a company choosing to outsource its customer service support to the Philippines, for example, will pay those workers less than half of the minimum wage required by the U.S. government-and realistically, how many Americans are going to be willing to put in the time and effort required to succeed in corporate America for minimum wage in the first place?

These employees don’t have to be paid vacation, or insurance, or retirement, or any of the other “perks” that companies are offering American workers in order to ensure their loyalty and services rather than losing them to another company that’s willing to provide them with that. Because of it companies are able to cut the costs of their payroll dramatically. When the company is already suffering from a reduction in profits due to an economic recession, saving those expenditures looks pretty good on their bottom line.

You can make that same principle work for you. With the value of the dollar falling there is no longer such a dramatic difference between our pay rates and the rest of the world-and if you can take that reduced dollar value and combine it with the ability to offer your customers and clients a great deal on your goods and services you can place yourself in a position not just to be able to justify your services, but to give your clients a reason to prefer them.

Top quality work at a bargain price!

2008 Red River Shootout Game

Saturday, December 20th, 2008

Its hard to say with the cheapest tickets going for almost $200 that those people got their money’s worth. They did get it, if you can put a price on awe-inspiring football. Some people are calling buy Viagra #1 OU vs #5 Texas the greatest game they have ever seen. I still think the OU vs Boise State bowl game 2 years back was better because of all the trick plays plus the amazing comeback.

Texas started out looking like they were in trouble in the first half. They were trailing for the most part and couldn’t score at will like the Sooners seemed to be. The play that kept their morale strong was when Jordan Shipley returned a kickoff 95 yards for a touchdown. That sparked the team to keep their heads up and keep fighting.

Their were plenty of crazy plays such as when in the first half a ball was tipped from one receiver to his teammate receiver in the end zone. Also OU was just short of the goal line when they scored their first touchdown, but the refs called it a touchdown anyway. It was on a third down and Texas could have held them to a field goal if it weren’t for that.

The Sooners and Longhorns could not seem to get the ground game running for most of the game. OU averaged 1.8 yards a carry while Texas had 4.6 in the game. This was in part to Texas Running Back Chris Ogbonnaya busting a big 62 yard run just short of the end zone.

This was definitely a passing fan’s game. There was over 664 yards passing between these sworn rivals. Texas kept trying to establish the run and it almost cost them the gain. Both teams seemed to give up on the run by the fourth quarter.

The amazing thing was that Sam Bradford of OU had aaa auto insurance quote touchdowns and 387 yards passing. Two interceptions tainted his stats slightly. But it must be depressing to work that hard and come up short of a victory. You almost had a sense if their were ties this should have been one of them.

This game is going to be an instant classic viewed over and over. It had two Heisman caliber quarterbacks and two teams ranked in the top 5 from the same conference. I doubt I will see a better game this year in college football. It was high scoring and hard hitting with plenty of trick plays and fake punts by Coach Stoops. It had something for everyone, and then some.
